One is Cigna Healthcare, the other is Cognizant (One of the biggest IT consulting companies). Similar salary/benefits, same city, basically same position.
Go with Cigna. Cognizant churns and burns
Run far away from any of these consultant companies especially with high offshore presence
Cigna
Cigna... Cognizant is a competitor of my company, and as mentioned, big offshore presence. Only the PM was kept when they transitioned to off shore testing.
Cigna. I've been with them for 7 years. Strong company culture, lots of room for advancement, great leadership and great employees.
Short-sighted answers above... You should go with what's going to position you best in your career. Where can you learn more? Which has the most lateral movement, flexibility? Which has the most challenge/reward? Of the two, who will you meet, contact, interact with (future leads)? There's a reason why you get churn and burn at big firms... Those people are making contacts, taking better jobs, making more money. Rarely do people stick around at companies their entire career... Don't make this decision based on that premise.
Former CTS here. If you are tech hands-on and going to be billable on the same proekct for 1 or 2 years, then it's OK. Ontwise, run away before it ruins your career.
I currently work for Cigna in a non IT related field. So far, I'm happy with the company.. they definitely push as a Corp. To get you moving within departments, promotions, etc. Health benefits aren't great in my opinion but I get my healthcare elsewhere.. for a global company with over 40k employees, they definitely treat you better than some other smaller companies I've worked with. Good luck.
@cigna, Do you have info on pay bands?
Run away from cognizant. Horrible experience with them. Wife worked for cognizant for few years left them in vein in the end. Poor Management. Client centric, you as an employee have no value to them, they will always treat you as someone who can always be replaced by another candidate willing to take your role and you will not be considered any asset to the company of any kind, unless you are going to be their Account head/bizz Dev manager who are directly responsible for revenue streams. Anyone other than them is considered disposable! Stay away in my most honest opinion.
+1
+1... agreed! In my orientation week fresh out of B school, a VP tartly told us how we were all “fungible resources”. It does not get better.
Cigna.
Use job security and work culture as tie breaker
