I know not everyone can get into Facebook and Google but not everyone can get into Harvard and Princeton. In terms of tech companies, if you get into a company like Airbnb, Snowflake, DoorDash, etc. - do you consider yourself as finally "breaking through"? Similar to the way someone in investment banking lands a job at Goldman Sachs or a top hedge fund? I don't mean that you made it so far that you can now retire early. But I mean that you got over the hardest initial hump and now you don't have to worry so much about moving to different top tier companies?
Just maximize TC and don't tie your self worth to your employer
Exactly. Has served me well despite tier 4 employers 🤣
You know those big companies interview way more people than small companies ? As mentioned in another comment - it’s not hard to get an interview at those. It’s hard to pass And if you think some of the smaller companies you mentioned have a lower hiring bar - you are wrong Also - when you move companies - after you get to the interview - nobody cuts you slack cause you were at G or FB. It’s you in the process, the previous employers name just decides potentially how fast your gonna get the call back (and even then. I thing like a referral)
Having Snowflake on my resume guarantees me a job at Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, and Databricks. All 5 beg me to interview non-stop. I refuse to bother with leetcode, doesn’t seem to pose them.
In tech, resumes gets interviews, not jobs. Having big names on a resume does speed up the process, but FANG etc will really interview anyone with the right tech words on their paper. Having another big game doesn't change that, just makes them more proactive. If you get a fancy offer it tech, you've passed a hard interview. If you've passed a hard interview, you're more likely to be able to do it again.
