This is actually wtf news and a big lesson for those who join startups without asking how many total stocks they have printed so far. If any startup cannot share that number, move on.
The engineer interviewed in the article that viewed his loss as Vegas money is correct. Thank you for the reminder, OP. I only have a few more months to decide whether to exercise options from a startup. In other words, paying real money for a promise.
