Could someone please explain how $775 a night makes any kind of sense? That’s 20k+ a month, 200k+ a year for ONE bed. That’s more expensive than any hotel or childcare I can even think of. It would be cheaper to House them in one of trumps hotels, smh. How is that fiscally responsible? Our government is pretty inept at being fiscally sound in decision making. This should be obvious to you by now.
It’s not the cost of the tent. It’s the cost of running a detainment center with a full staff. Why does it cost 100k per head per year to incarcerate someone in a US prison? Same answer.
Yeah but your don’t see those prices for anything of that nature in normal society. The common denominator is the government. It’s a huge mismanagement of tax dollars no matter how you cut it.
That’s because there isn’t a real private industry analog to compare to. And the government doesn’t necessarily run these operations either. A majority of the work is farmed out to private industry contracting companies, who charge an arm and a leg because of supply and demand. Parts of the government which are wholly owned and operated would be like social security or Medicare which operate on very small 3% overhead. Far lower than the most affordable private insurance industry provider. But more government is the problem, not the solution, remember? So the government pays out the nose for bloated, inefficient, profit driven, private industry contractors. That’s the trade off.

There is a child present in 86 percent of illegal immigrant households using welfare and this is the primary way these households access programs. My sis in law is a registered nurse in home health care and baby sits a disabled illegal child from illegal parents all day long thanks to our tax dollars. She makes 75k.
