Being harassed over email with intentionally impossible projects and work. Trying hard to negotiate, reason, and stay subordinate, but they’re out for blood. Getting a new extreme email everyday, with torture-tier levels of gaslight and inconsistencies. My mental health is taking a toll, and I’m not eating or sleeping from the absolute insanity. I’m still finishing some interview loops, but it’s increasingly difficult for me to go in with a sound mind provided my work situation. No idea how much more I can take. This is absolutely insane. I’ve already exhausted my fmla. Not sure if I should just quit and take the job gap. I need help. My friends and family are becoming increasingly worried about me. They tell me that I look extremely spaced out and horrified everytime they interact with me as I’m in my head the whole day over this. My heart is racing and I feel chronically nauseous. My health and wellbeing is declining extremely rapidly.
Not worth it, quit if you can. If you want to take revenge, do bare minimum and try to get severance.
What is your level? And for now, ignore them and focus on interviews, also take an emergency time off if you can!
I’m literally entry-level. They’re giving me staff level projects over email and asking me for weeks in deadlines
If you are entry level, find a mentor who's at least a level above you or someone who's been there for a while. Get advice from them on project complexity and how break them down. With their opinion you can calibrate your estimates. Breaking down a task into smaller pieces and giving estimates (with enough buffer for each) makes it harder for them to push back on the estimate.
Any reason you are going through this?
I took fmla
Why does taking fmla cause this to happen?
Why do you care about the email. Enjoy the pay
❤️
Just stop caring and give bull shit updates which are not verifiable or might even be found to be wrong. Give updates about testing and writing unit tests etc. Waiting for approval on some service or the other. Deliver a tiny deliverable here and there. Just stop caring about the mails and stuff. Don’t even read ur mails daily. Ready em like once in 2 days. If he has something urgent to convey, u’ll get a slack msg. When asked why, jus say u we’re focused on working and dint check mails that day. In the meantime keep prepping for interviews and leetcode hard. Be coding 5-6 hours every day minimum.
I am going thru a milder version of this. The advise I get is to push back with data. Come up with a counter plan that you can achieve, which may even be difficult if the work is ambiguous. But do your best, state that this is your professional opinion and stand firm. Don't commit to an irrational deadline. That's what they want and they will use it to fail you. Communicate your feasible plan aggressively, make everyone involved know it. This will give you piece of mind, because you are doing all you can. They can still terminate you for any reason, but make it hard for them.
Wow, this at Microsoft?! My sympathies. OP I hope you get out and to a job that treats you better. Maybe it is time to stop caring and start preparing
It’s Azure
Stay, chill.
What org?
All I can share is azure
Your health and well being are much more important than any job. Take care of yourself and prioritise yourself. Make your job secondary by doing the bear minimum. Don’t care about anything or any emails but put efforts in looking for a new job.

I’m afraid I don’t have any advice, but I truly do hope things get better for you soon. This sounds extremely stressful.
Thanks ❤️. I never knew this could happen at my company
It can happen anywhere, it takes just one or two desperate people without spine or morals. I would try to change org/team before trying to leave. I was told in MSFT it’s fairly easy to do that.
