Companies like Apple, Google and Microsoft have so much power over their platforms, they can sway entire industries. Take example of yesterday’s WWDC event. Apple’s pretty small unassuming announcements 😅 “pay later”, “continuity camera”, “freeform” and the impact it has on different sectors and companies. No wonder companies and governments keep filling anti trust lawsuits Tc 439
Key words “their platforms”.
It’s the game. When two companies are doing the same thing, only the big fish will be attacked by politicians for the money. No one bothers about your business if you are not making money.
We still need unicorns of tomorrow to grow up. But they all suck in their own ways, if your company can be usurped in one release cycle, you have no moat and even less reason to exist. It’s a healthy culling of weak, overvalued, remote companies. We need a big reset.
Why so bitter? You’re hinting at any concrete companies here?
There’s too many to mention. They all thought they were special snowflakes and now they’re fighting for their existence. And the rough times haven’t even started yet, you can thank Powell because he gave them life and will take it away now.
It’s a fair play until “their platforms” is all there is in the world. Govs def need ways of controlling giants
Where do you think your mega TC comes from?
By working for the greatest company on the planet. It could be even higher, tbh.
What’s the point of Apple’s BNPL? Is the market for people who have expensive iPhones and can’t pay full price a thing? Or will it be usable outside the Apple ecosystem?
Welcome to America where companies are encouraged to become cash cows until the government can then come along and milk it.
Yup with special interests
