Hello Community, unfortunately I was just recently impacted by layoffs at my company and itβs now killing me. Below is some details of events that took place: I came back from bonding leaves and was welcomed with surprise that my previous manager was fired and now I have some new manager that I will report too. itβs been couple of months delivering what all was asked of me too and one early morning I get an email stating that my position was impacted and I have to let go everything by 5pm. The new manager didnβt even cared as I can tell by his attitude, having no empathy and later showing his face in a meeting with the HR directly. During the meeting I asked him wether the role is no longer required or Iβm not required on performance basis? He dodged it saying the company has to do cost saving and this decision was taken by the management and is FINAL. Reflecting on it for some days, Iβm skeptical about what he said and now Iβm questioning myself. Iβm Questioning that why was I only let go in the whole team even though I had got exceed ratings consistently for the past 3 years and have been the top performer in the org. Being the sole bread earner for the family and with visa timelines I just feel crazy. Was it really my fault? Was the new management really involved in my layoff or was it done by the new manager as he hated me and my previous manager? P.S: if anyone has open roles related to ITIL / ITSM tools / management position in IT applications / HELPDESK OR Enterprise Architecture please DM me. TC : 400k #tech #layoffs
It was not your fault. Corporations are heartless machines. Never forget that. Good luck in finding a new job.
Please don't overthink on why. Layoffs happen and typically managers have very little say in who is let go. It's ok to feel upset and sad, even fear. It's natural. Give yourself time to digest the news. But trying to figure out why you were laid off from your team is futile.
Iβm trying to do that. But every time I try to find a job for niche skill I have it just takes me back. The major reason being the immigration deadline which is stressful like someone has kept a heavy metal on my chest.
Good luck, don't make it personal, it doesn't sound you could have done anything to avoid it. Sometimes the downs give us the best opportunities. Keep your head up.
Thank you!
Don't take it personally. Just buckle up and start job hunting. You don't have much options. I was in the same position with visa , just got a offer today. Don't get discouraged things will work out.
Thanks. Hope I get one soon.
My heart goes with you. This is an inevitable truth of corporate. Check for opening in ServiceNow BMC Salesforce which may match your profile.
Iβm looking into those . I have done a lot of development using JavaScript and have also been doing enterprise architecture lately. If you have something or know someone hiring, pls let me know.
Your grammar needs to be desired.
I hope now the updated version is at minimum acceptable for you or you really like to laugh at people misery.

It wasn't your fault. Get the ball rolling now for a new job. Your direct manager probably has no say in layoffs.

Appreciate it. What platform does your company use as a ticketing platform for IT HELP?
Itβs all done in-house, but we primarily use Lark, our collaboration app. Itβs a product in itself as well
