MY base TC is 160k in LI, vs I am getting offer of 190k in ServiceNow + title upgrade. Question: is service now a better company compared to LI? How’s the WLB and culture at ServiceNow?
Definitely Li is better
No
Yes

what level at servicenow? also your yoe?
Sr. Staff. Yoe: 20 years.
Wut? Ic5 at 190 base? Ic3 gets that much. Likely times have changed
Who gives af what’s a “better company”. Go for the money
Tech stack at now is not great. Not sure which org(app/platform) you are going to work on. Wlb is good and depends on org/team.
Security+Java
Don't believe the recruiters when they say Java.. happened in my team too where we actually work on the platform but recruiters mentioned Java and then when ppl joined they were hugely disappointed
Work life balance at ServiceNow is completely team dependent. You might get lucky and land on a team that isn't under the gun, but if you don't, you can become seriously overworked. The tech stack on my team is fine, but I hear complaints from other teams about theirs.
Which team do you work in? Is base pay offered to me above median or at median?
A promotion in this economy? Take it. Now is a great company. Can’t speak for LinkedIn, but things are solid and stable over here. CEO promised no layoffs early this year while every other tech company was cutting. Revenue remains strong. Huge product portfolio with many places to move around. Good luck!
Go for the money man, all the same in this market just take as much money as you can. Servicenow is hiring & doing silent layoffs in the name of poor performance, pip, rto etc so don’t get biased just go for money
WLB is great here. But I also hear it's great in LI so there may not be much difference. Work can be different from what we expect. I find it very boring working on top of platform. I've heard similar from others too. No layoffs and doesn't look like there'll be so that's a plus point. Apart from that and pay, I'd choose LI anytime. The pay raise for the switch and title upgrade is too little...20%? 🙄
Yeah, and I have not negotiated yet so need some feedback and guidance on what’s the right range for Sr Staff and how do I negotiate if it is higher than what’s offered. No Layoffs is a big thing. LI seems to be laying off people on the name of performance now a days by raising bar of performance much higher than earlier all of a sudden, and I don’t like that too. This makes me worried that if I consistently performed the same way as previous years, my performance will not be rated same way and if I was getting “meets the criteria” rating, I will be put into IG and the PIP respectively. Already saw this happening here during mid year review this year, and I successfully came out of IG at that time. But I don’t find this practice appropriate here anymore.
