Back in 2008 WA state began refusing to issue Alien Firearm Licenses to anyone, effectively preventing you, legal immigrants in WA state, from possessing guns. The Second Amendment Foundation, saf.org, sued the state, arguing that WA State's refusal to issue Alien Firearms Licenses infringed your right to bear arms under the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution. SAF won, and the State was forced to resume issuing licenses to lawful immigrants. As a result your right to own firearms is preserved, you can apply for a license, and provided you demonstrate no criminal history, you can purchase a gun and protect yourself and your family. This is a great news for my fellow colleagues on H1b✌️👍
That’s great! Give everyone a gun.
Nobody is giving anyone a gun. Calm down.
Great news. I always wanted to shoot myself in the foot. The only question now remains is which one :)
Try the one in your mouth
They ask something to this affect in green card AOS phase about guns. Not sure if they would reject you because of it.
Indians don't need to worry about that
They ask if you traffick guns to paramilitaries or terrorists and whether you have ever used firearms against a person. Not a concern. You can even answer yes to those questions if, say, you used firearms to fight off a home invasion and you have a police report backing up your story.
Alien includes green card holders?
If you are a greencard holder you do not need an AFL to possess a firearm, you are treated the same as a citizen. This ruling protected the constitutional rights of people on H1b, etc
Thanks!
