The median household income for Asians is $101,500 in the US. For whites, it's $71,000. https://www.statista.com/statistics/233324/median-household-income-in-the-united-states-by-race-or-ethnic-group/ Asians make 35% more than whites, and 77% more than blacks. Whites make 45% more than blacks. This was pretty shocking for me, because after years of hearing about white privilege, I assumed that whites must have by far the highest income in America, but that isn't the case at all anymore. A couple obvious explanations stand out: 1, the pressure to conform and succeed is higher in Asian culture, and 2, the US education system fails to produce enough people with qualifications, so US companies must import the talent from countries with superior education and cultural conditions.
Averages may give a wrong impression. If the averages are compared across same job fields or industry, you may see a very different picture.
But on average they will be higher
Privilege is getting paid more with everything equalized. So no
Tis true, cause I’m white and look at the 🥜 company I work for
The question is why are the asians earning more $ at the same 🥜 company?
Replace asians with men and whites with women and your statement is “misogynist”
1) Asian immigrants who come here on skilled labor visas like H1B are more educated than the general population 2) Even lower income Asian families place an inordinate emphasis on education and are more active in their children’s academics Given that education in the US is tightly bound to economic opportunity this shouldn’t be too much of a surprise.
Asians are concentrated in HCOL areas such as California, which leads to higher incomes, $100k isn't the same everywhere
Good point. To know the true difference, the data should be sliced further.
Coinbase is right. A comparison of Asian people and white people in LCOL versus HCOL areas would better indicate wage differences at a much more nuanced level.
Because most Asians can only work in tech industry. Very unfortunate
Does Asians in this include Indians?
Nothing dramatic here.. US only allows only highly qualified immigrants on visa as they wanna attract the best and the brightest so naturally this cream layer from Asia makes more than your average white that includes all layers of the social fabric.. (and practically nil illegal immigration from Asia).. I'm shocked that you are shocked
Being poor and white sucks... none of the money but zero social empathy because you're still privileged. Gotta say id rather have the money than the privilege
Just gonna add the numbers for clarity: Asian, alone - 101,418 White, not Hispanic - 71,033 Hispanic (of any race) - 57,981 American Indian and Alaska Native - 49,216 Black - 45,208
why blacks are on the bottom, it’s more important to study
Really @Hulu? I think there's quite a bit of documentation for why blacks are on the bottom. I'd suggest starting with slavery and working your way past the segregation issues over the last 100 years and finally end at the lack of education and employment opportunities for people who don't come from middle class wealth in the USA. This is what diversity and "wokeness" at education institutions and companies was supposed to be about. Bridging opportunity gaps that have existed for generations. Instead it got hijacked by white people and eventually the right of America as an assault against existence. There's no secret as to why the minorities that have been in the USA the longest are the poorest on the list.

Why is it so G*damn difficult to move money out of India
Not globally though. You’re just seeing the ones that were good enough to get here lol.
Which is completely valid? Most conversations about the issue are US-centric as we have fairly unique race relations and dynamics at play.
