Been seeing a lot of good engineers in singapore move to Indeed. Besides the increased pay, curious to know how it is to work there? What kind of projects and technologies do they work on? How is the culture? Would particularly like to hear from ex sg Grab people, if any.
I worked in Grab. Indeed is incomparably better. The culture is inclusive, people are very talented and the projects interesting. I highly recommend it.
I don't know much about Grab but Indeed sucks. Lame technologies, lame management. Indeed pays rather good and they offer free food and drink but that's almost everything that are good about Indeed. If you are serious about your career, I don't recommend going there. If you just want to get paid well and do nothing, Indeed is a very good place for you.
Wow, what technologies are lame?
@WFHeng Almost everything. Legacy codebases still use Google Closure + Soy template in a wrong way. Indeed loves to reinvent the wheel but due to the lack of good talents almost all the in-house projects are lame and nobody use them even if they are open sourced. They don't have the culture to design things. Quarterly evaluation that is weighed too much on business impact demotivates people to write good code or do any refactoring. Tons of hacks all around and nobody has dared to fix them.
Indeed
Remember indeed doesn't give you stocks. They give LTIP that only start in year 3. AFAIK, they don't appreciate in price much.
True, the downside is that LTIPs vests on 3rd year. On the flip side, they’re worth much more than paper money in Grab.
Depends on your life choices. I expect Grab to go public at a price higher than where they are at right now in 3-5 years. If you don't have that risk appetite, go to Indeed.
Are they hiring mobile engineers?
It's Indeed very good
