1. I think the proof might have been shared with other countries and diplomatic channels that matter and not the media, maybe because to avoid the risk of blowing cover of the secret intelligent sources. There was an image in the media, which showed flags of US, UK and Israel painted on the ground. That might be a bit of evidence. 2. I guess, we didn't know the medium and route of attack so the better jets might have been deployed somewhere else, in some other capacity, to be ready to respond to some other hostility. The pilot crossed the line as his craft got hit, so he ejected and landed on the other side. 3. I guess they could have not released him or ill treated him and that might have been a declaration of war, as per the Geneva Convention. But, they chose to release soon over any other hostility or provocation, so it may be seen as a more peaceful choice.

Imo, India didn’t achieve much. Looks like Indian strike didn’t do much damage. It came to back foot since its pilot was captured and plane got shot down. In another incident, Indian chopper got into mechanical failure and 5 jawans died. Pakistan still didn’t release Masoor and Hafeez. So overall, India showed intent but lacked capability. India is clearly not war-ready and can’t fight on both fronts (China and Pakistan) at the same time. Modi’s personal ambitions left India’s weak points exposed.

1- no, they were terribly unsuccessful. 2- because they thought, it will come back same as first time. Underestimating others. 3- how much Geneva convention in really followed now a days in the wars ? Even then, countries have so many ways to manipulate it. It didn’t happen so It was peace act and good gesture .

I’ll answer your 2nd question. There are different kinds of aircraft but for this question, we can assume there are two kinds - a) one which are light, can be started fast and can chase the enemy and drive them out. b) heavy but accurate. Can carry heavy payloads and go deep in enemy territory, strike and hopefully come back before the enemy reacts. Among our current aircrafts, mig21 falls in (a) and everything else in (b). We are hoping tejas would materialize soon and phase out mig21. Until then, that’s all we’ve got.
