Should I quit my 35lpa job to go to IAS/IPS/IFS with hardly 10 LPA income? Anyone done that or knows someone who did that? Civil Servants and black money are just a myth with new age of social media monitoring. Also a good person will never do that. Age limit to apply : 32 years for general category.
Lol - IAS/IPS/IFS at 10 LPA. Have you any idea how much under the table potential these jobs have? My cousin is an IPS officer who easily clears 2 crores per year! Has bought multiple flats in different cities in the past 7-8 years. He’s around 35 yrs old now. Try beating that on a tech income.
Try beating having sleepless nights, guilt, remorse and probably some jail time. Vs hard works and sweet white income. Even if I become one. I won't be doing anything like this.
Great, LinkedIn has a corrupt cousin and is boasting about it. GTFO.
10 LPA in bank but 1C in notes. Looks like you forgot that part in this equation.
Civil services beats a tech sector job when you reach a level of seniority and get plump postings that’s when the real fun begins. At that high level you are basically doing policy analysis impacting millions of people. Pay will not be great and if you stay honest neither your bank balance. But staying in the upper echelons of power is another drug
Tech jobs would generally be in better cities and you'll have a better work environment.
UPSC has a social security after retirement. Tech has none
Ias easily the corruption is mind boggling you can make 10 crores in 5 years
If you are looking for 9 to 5 job or 50LPA sal don’t even think of upsc. You may have to dedicate at least 2 to 3 years of ur time to clear and then there are interviews to clear. After all these don’t think you get a posting in the state of your choice. One of my friends topped upsc served as ias in assam and then ps of central minister. And now on sabbatical doing his phd in economics in London.
OP, you clear the exam and interviews yet?
No. Planning to start the prep for 2020 while in job. Weighing opinions currently before taking a stance.
Comparing these two options is no different from comparing any other two random professions. It has no meaning. You do what you like and what meets your priorities in life. Also, what is “tech career”? You can be a SWE, a PM, an SA, a General Manager, or a CEO. You are asking for comparing against the broadest generalization of careers in an industry. You should try to focus on what excites you the most and do that. Think of what life will make you look forward to waking up from your bed every morning, and then figure out how to build that life. It’s that simple.
Best reply.. 👍👍
Being a top cop or a district chief pales in comparison to anything that can be called a teach career SWe, pm, data scientist etc. I mean seriously who would want to be a swe over say a district magistrate?

Simple, Tech salary is not permanent but UPSC is permanent and life long.
