Hey fellow indians, What do you guys do to enjoy life at it's maximum in USA along with chasing TC. - Do you not miss pub culture back in India? - How do you keep socially engaged ? I feel it's way difficult here and life is more about saving money, investing, buying big houses. - Don't miss maids and going into kitchen and just finding food. And how about street food. - Don't miss the casual hallway talks in India office. - Don't miss that casual, comparatively free and not so organised life in India. What kind of activities/things/routines/thinking you do to get the maximum out of your life here and not just end up chasing TC but do chase it. TC: 180k
lol, of course not. I never went to pub. I have no problem in doing my own dishes and laundry. I don’t talk much. I have friends here whom I can share things if I need to. Buying a big house is much easier here than in India. My parents visit here when I need them. They like here as there is no pollution. Things I like here are Safety, company sponsored health care, free children schools. High salary, freedom to travel, going to gym doing workout. Every place have its pros and cons. Make the most of you life based on what you want from it.
Safety? You don’t know when you will be gunned down by a random psycho.. if you get into an accident in India, in most of the cases people deal with fists, but here you don’t know what kind of gun the other person has in their car.
u sound so boring
US offers facilities to encourage things other than TC. I love that. I have been competing in clay shooting and learnt tennis over the past year. Will be starting learning flying next month. Please gain skills while you are here. India is a little behind in providing such facilities right now.
Keep dreaming how much fun I can have with my dollars in india if I made same money there.... Really sweet dreams
Why would we imagine that?
Why not?
I used to miss all those things. But I grew old here😛. Bay Area pretty much has all the things here.
Do you regret growing old here and what life could have been if you were in India?
I missed all these when I first came to US. Now after 10 yrs I have forgotten most of these . I am tired to go to pubs plus pubs here are not the same . Meet friends , but also here friends stick to a group . People are not open in expanding their circle. Got used to doing my own chores . I miss street food . I go to India every year and binge eat 😀 Casual hallway talks - it was hard at first but now I try to make friends at work and talk non work related stuff during lunch . Non organized stuff - you will not miss it in few years . You will actually like organized life here .I think this happens in India because there is family and huge network of friends . Bay Area - hiking during summer /skiing during winter . Travel to new places during long weekends . Your current lifestyle may suit better in NYC. All these are better there.
Thanks you! Yeah making friends is a little tough. Will try making friends at work.
I miss tadi / kallu.. it’s palm wine made from the sap of palm trees…
Nashedi 😁
Definitely miss the street food!
India is not for faint hearted 😀 Unless you embrace "Chaos", she will not hug you It is the only country on earth where you can learn how to let go and be free
love the perspective
This is exactly how I feel. Whenever I travel back to India, the first few days are difficult because everything feels so chaotic. But then once you are fully immersed in it, you feel the zen and peace amidst all the chaos.
I think it could be about friends and people you hang out with. Obviously it's been hard in the pandemic being socially engaged, but just find like minded people and I'm sure you could find something to do for fun.
