👌 TOKYO -- India's Tata Group will begin producing semiconductors in the country within a few years, a move that the chairman of the group's main company said will make the South Asian country a key part of global chip supply chains. In an interview with Nikkei Asia in Tokyo on Thursday, Tata Sons Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran revealed that the conglomerate plans to launch new businesses in emerging fields such as electric vehicles. "We have created Tata Electronics, under which we are going to set up a semiconductor assembly testing business," Chandrasekaran said, referring to an electronic components manufacturer that the group founded in 2020. https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Tech/Semiconductors/Tata-to-enter-chipmaking-in-India-Chairman-Natarajan-Chandrasekaran
Why tell it's starting in India. Tell it's starting in Gujarat. For our PM, developing India means developing Gujarat only.... As if that's the only state in India.
Did you care that the NE states received a fraction of attention and resources compared to the rest of the country since independence?
I don't know if they received but the major headline making industries are only setup in Gujarat. And other parts receiving a bit of money vs receiving industries is a different thing altogether.
Gujarat is the most business friendly state and any private business can thrive there. This has nothing to do with govt. Big investments are not done just because modi wants it. TATA group has been doing business in India since independence , way before modi or BJP became strong. Only fool can think this is political step from TATA or any other big corporation.
This is excellent news. There are a couple of other big players as well. It will be really good for India and the world.
Great news indeed.
