I want to get into a data science role from being an industrial engineer. What would be your suggestion on getting there ? Is it taking udacity nano degree , marketing yourself by applying to jobs or bootcamps or a combination of all of them or something else ? Even though my title says I am industrial engineer my work actually revolves around analyzing, visualizing and taking data driven decisions. Not an expert myself. But this is how I approach learning anything/building my profile. Find a problem that you really want to solve, attempt solving it with what you know, then you'll know how much you don't know. Then you can start learning them by doing. Since you didn't specifically say what in data science, I'll take it as Machine learning and suggest you the following: ISLR book (the concepts are well organized, though I'm not a fan of R). It's an easy read. Also medium articles and GitHub. Now, if you already have subject matter expertise, find real problems, solve them, build ur profile. I feel this is more valuable on ur resume than online courses, as well as time effective way to learn. I just hope the recruiters feel this way too :p
