Ineligible for rehire

I am curious to know if being ineligible for rehire at Microsoft has resulted in background checks failing or red flags with offers from other companies. Any help is appreciated?

To the office? Otherwise it’s all good

Yes that usually causes issues getting hired elsewhere. Microsoft can relay that to companies that call to confirm your employment.

I thought it was just start & end dates and salary info that Microsoft provides

They usually check date of employment and title.. most companies don’t give rehire status

Companies don't give out reason for termination, most only give dates of employment.

It will not be a red flag, no one else will know. Apply around and come up with an excuse, if they even ask.

I think that depends on whether your future employer require a 'reference check', which is different from a 'background check'. My new employer did reference check on me and called my former manager, one of the questions he asked was 'is this person eligible for rehire at your company', and my former manager gave very positive feedback. If they don't do reference check, you are fine.
