Unfortunately they can be highly variable, as can the tech stacks data analysts will use - but you can typically always ask what sort of tech stack the company uses during the interview process if it’s important to you. The short answer is be proficient in SQL and a language like R or Python, and then brush up on your product sense questions.

Thank you..!! I haven’t started interviewing yet but trying to get knowledge on what non-faang companies actually look in the candidate’s profile.

Just quit 5 years of non-fang BI where I mentored many Data Analysts and was lead developer of dashboards and data models. Also attended conferences throughout the years and am currently interviewing. Tableau/SQL is going to be an extremely common combination. Some may replace Tableau with Power BI or another tool occasionally. Python/R are good skills to have and definitely elevate your position. Also Alteryx or another ETL tool for *some* companies that are getting into that level of analytics. I've found that not many companies justify the licensing for this, but mine did. It's a really neat tool. Excel is a given, bare minimum and honestly analytics teams are in charge of replacing excel reporting a lot of the time.

Thanks you..!! I learned SQL and practicing now. Planning to learn Power BI. I am not familiar with coding, so I am still feeling hesitant to look into scripting language like R or python.
