InfoSec (GRC/Cybersecurity/IT Audit) or FDD (M&A)

Hi Blind Community, I'd like to ask for some career advice for choosing between Finance/Accounting route and InfoSec/GRC route. Background: On H1B Visa > needs Green card sponsorship soon Economics/Statistics + Master of Accounting degree 2 YOE at EY as Technology Risk Consultant at EY Work Experiences: SOC 1&2, IT SOX, Cybersecurity, and other IT Security work Current TC: 100K, based in Southeast region Choosing between: Big 4 FDD: Pros: I have a Master of Accounting degree from top US program. Completed 3 CPA exams, 1 more to go. Interested into numbers. Better exits (FP&A, Corp Development). Cons: wlb even worse than my current job, pay not significantly higher. Maybe 20-30k more? InfoSec/GRC at Tech firms: Pros: More suitable for what I have been doing in the past 2 years. Better wlb. Pay is a lot higher than current and also FDD Cons: Not suitable for my academic background. Harder to hop on the train now with hire freeze. Maybe relocation to west coast? Current job haunting status: Might receive an offer soon for Senior IT Audit role from a local bank: TC 125K. Please leave your comments and advice, really appreciate the career advice. #FDD #INFORSEC #GRC #interview #it #cybersecurity #M&A #accounting

If H1B visa transfer happens, you’ll be set for the green card. You have a better chance making a specialty occupation case for Infosec route vs Finance. My 2c

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, so either route big tech or professional big4 firms do sponsor green card. I feel that finance industry job market is more competitive that every guy want to join IB/PE to make big bucks.

Is Big 4 FDD at the same level as IB/PE? Probably not.

Just FYI, FDD = Financial Due Diligence, which is related to M&A

Both paths will have demand. What really matters more is your longer term interest levels
