Hey Data Community, I'm curious about the Data Scientist interview (L4-L5) at Instacart and would appreciate your insights. Specifically, I'd like to know: 1. **Complexity:** How challenging is the interview? Are the questions mostly about problem-solving, algorithms, or real-world data analysis scenarios? 2. **Topics:** What technical areas are emphasized the most? SQL, statistics, machine learning, or something else? 3. **Tips & Insights:** If you've been through it, do you have any tips or insights to share? What should candidates focus on during preparation? Your experience and knowledge would be incredibly helpful. Please share your thoughts! YOE : 6 TC :260k #datascience #instacart #interviewquestions
Under no circumstance should you pursue Instacart. Go to their company’s private blind and see how unhappy employees are. Management will make every decision that is unfavorable for employees. Think about how rare it is to get into a company 2-3 years before ipo and take a 50-70% hit in avg comp from what was offered—-that is the norm right now at Instacart.
Nah we are happy, don’t listen to Meta, they are still jealous that we took their VP
The price drop is it company’s fault, but the market situation. It’s kind of how you would buy a house in a low rate environment with variable rate mortgage and then complain that house went down and your mortgage payment went up. You join company that pays stock based compensation - you are betting on stock going up. Even more so if the company is private. Like what did people think when they entered the company with j flared valuation and low interest rate environment? There will be a lot of volatility on the stock market in the next few years, need to keep that in mind when evaluating offers, especially the fresh out of IPO :) But that being said, Instacart is definitely better priced now that it was in 2021, I would say that it is an opportunity it’s to get your initial RSU grant for cheap. But other private companies who slashed their valuation might also be a good option.
@bigbig : Do you work for the DS team ?
Op what do you work at servicenow as, for such a high TC ?
260 is high TC for someone working in UBER ? My friends in UBER are making 400+ on Senior SWE role. I work on Product side and before joining NOW I was making 180k in 2020.
You asked for data role so I was assuming you are data analyst/ scientist. Not a good idea to compare across job lines. You will always feel you aren’t earning enough. Uber product for l4 is similar
