Interviewing for L4 SDE. Couple questions: 1. Which teams have the best growth area? Not concerned about WLB (I already have none working at Amazon lol) 2. What’s the remote working policy? Parents are in China and would be ideal if I can work remotely say couple of weeks per year 3. Where’s the office lol
Insta just laid off
In their press release they mentioned something about putting more emphasis on advertising, so I’m assuming if I join ads I should (probabilistically speaking) be safe
The head of ads eng sits in Toronto if that makes a difference
They just laid off
Literally everyone is or has recently been laying off, so if that's a reason to avoid nobody would take any new roles again. Question is whether the core business is healthy.
Join Caper if possible. Instacart doesn’t allow working from China. It is a restricted country.
Why caper?
I know ppl who worked in China for a few weeks. From my understanding, working from China temporarily is ok. Plus we literally have Caper devs in China.
For all the comments pointing out the layoff - so we have money to afford cheap labors in Canada
Cant speak to #1. Remote work policy you are limited to only working out of country for a certain number of days for tax reasons. The office is searchable on google maps, its in Liberty Village near King/Dufferin. And don't mind the layoffs, we are still hiring junior devs.
You can’t work from from China because Instacart blocks access to all systems from Chinese IP addresses. You could subvert it with a VPN but if you get caught expect to get fired because we are a public company with declared software security standards
Are the media reports of Capers 996 culture true?
