I grew up eating instant ramen. My family would cook it for breakfast and I loved it. Then I discovered that it’s unhealthy and stopped eating it much. I didn’t have restaurant ramen until I was in my 20’s, maybe after age 25 or so. Restaurant ramen should be more healthy but I’m not sure how much more than other cuisines. What age did you eat your first restaurant ramen?
Both ramen are incredibly unhealthy. High sodium. Eat restaurant ramen once in a while. Not something you should take regularly. Even in Japan, it's more of a once a week thing. Also most of us in the west take heavier ramen like tonkotsu ramen. Instant ramen is unhealthy due to lack of nutrition and high sodium. Former you can get by adding tofu, mushroom, shrimp, spinach, onion, garlic, carrot, egg, corn, broccoli, etc.. Latter you can somewhat avoid by lowering the amount of flavoring package you use (all sodium). Ramen is low on calories so it won't get you fat. But the high sodium will increase the likelihood of cancer over time. Restaurant ramen is still high in sodium but has nutrition.
This. The high sodium is incredibly unhealthy.
Restaurant ramen is packed with sodium and often has a layer of fat poured on top for extra flavor. Plus the carbs in the noodles. This is not health food. Among noodle soups I find pho to be a better option from a health perspective. Still salty and carb heavy, but much less salty than ramen, and it has a much lighter and cleaner broth with lots of protein.
"Restaurant ramen should be more healthy" What!?
Unless it looks like Naruto ramen I am not having any.
