IRS Warns Thousands of Taxpayers They Could Face Jail Time
What happens to my health insurance after resignation? If I get the termination of employment from microsoft do they at least keep the insurance for two weeks of notice or removed on the day that I resign?
You should be covered for the calendar month in which youโre terminated. So you have ~30 days if terminated on the 1st or ~1 day if on the 29th. Also you will have COBRA available to you. The thing is it is ridiculously expensive. However there is a ~60 day window (double check the window cos Iโm going off hazy memory) where you can apply retroactively. So you could roll the dice and technically be uninsured for about 60 days while retaining the option to get insurance if you had an emergency.
I would check with your HR team prior to your last day. They will have what the companies policy specifically involves... Get this done and in place before your last day to ensure coverage.
Itโs usually that your insurance is covered through the end on the month in which you resign.
When my partner resigned from Microsoft years ago, his health insurance ended on his last day of employment. More recently, when he left other jobs the employer carried him through the end of the month. Ask your HR rep for current policy. In either case, you are entitled to 18 months of COBRA, which can be purchased retroactively for up to 60 days. COBRA is better coverage than Obamacare and generally less expensive, even though it is not cheap. You will receive COBRA information via USPS within 2 weeks of leaving Microsoft
In my case, I had the insurance until the last day of notice
You mean the day you gave notice?
