Just read a thread about someone's mom dying in hospital and he was slammed with $200k bill. I wanted to have a thread where we can discuss the insurance stuff. I have UHC insurance and pay close to 800$ for entire family What all other insurances does a family need?

The area most people are under-insured is disability. You're 3x more likely to be disabled than die. And disability can be expensive. That said, unless the person you read about had some financial responsibility for the mom they can't be made to pay that bill. The mom's estate might be compelled to pay it if it has sufficient assets, but that's not the same as the son being stuck with the bill.
