Hi Guys I got an Offer from Intel for two teams. (bay area) Base 145K, Hiring 15K, RSU : 50K ( need to confirm vesting period , I guess 4y) , Grade 6 . Assuming QPB ~ 6%, APB ~6% for G6 that makes it about 180K. Current TC (bay): ~ 170K(142/ 10%,40k/3, not counting Refreshers ~ 10k). Yoe:~5.5 . I was hoping to target G7 since I dont want to be in the rat race for promotion at least 3 years. but seems difficult . What are typical refreshers for G6 vs G7 . Do you guys see any room to negotiate more.
From my understanding, the initial compensation determines your grade level. If you can negotiate a higher comp, it may just bump you into 7 or even 8. There should also be a geo differential for Bay Area and it does go lower as you move into higher grade.
5.5 YOE qualifies you for G7. Refreshers are better starting at G7 and bonus multiplier kicks in as well. Fight for it

Also if ur g6 with hi comp ur yearly incrementals may not be much. U ll be told ur comp is hi n try for g7 which is just manager talk nothing else. Promotions r not easy. Ask for lower band g7 I guess.

That’s a very high offer for G6. I doubt you will be able to negotiate. This is a early-mid G7 offer. I don’t see why they would keep at 6 with this pay
Go for g7 .. g6 to g7 can go up to 5 years based on team performance etc..
APB is 3.18% of your base for grade5 and grade 6. Starting from grade 7, it can go to 6%, 9% etc. QPB would be roughly 20-30days of your base. If intel does good, you will get more number of days. Negotiate for grade 7 even if it is at the cost of a base pay cut. Also ask for at least 6% on APB. 9% is doable too. Getting in at grade 7 is the best. U can sit in grade 7 for 3-4years and get your base higher and higher.

I know a G7 with 142k so this offer seems good but why switch for such small hike? Don’t bank on refreshers at Intel. It’s mostly 🥜 . Hope to hear someone say otherwise.
Yeah won't be surprised with people from g8 alsop getting less than that . Yeah I think I deserve a better jump , since I'm loosing more on unvested stock which is far more valuable than INTC. But I'm trying to get into role A (sc) but I kind of work in role B (pdx) (long term retiring goal).
