I am talking with multiple teams at Apple, and I am going to have to choose one team for virtual on-site interview. It is only half way through, though. I just wondered. How much more of TC should I expect when joining Apple Cupertino from Intel PDX? e.g. 15%, 20%, 25%? TC: 217k (G8, 5yoe, PhD)
I transfered from Intel PDX to Apple Cupertino in 2018. Grade 6 to ict3. TC bump 130 -> 250. But California is frickin expensive, man! Rent in Hillsboro was around 1400 and over 3000 in Cupertino. Just something to take into consideration during TC negotiation.
now try comparing your rent from Hillsboro to Hillsborough
What a TC bump! Thanks a lot for the info. Yes, that is right. Expensive housing in the bay area is one thing that I should use for TC negotiation.
It totally depends on the org and level you get at Apple. It'll definitely be more than Intel Oregon but cost of living in Cupertino is ridiculously high.
Yes, I am guessing that I should find a right org for my background, which can pay me very well.
Which teams are you currently talking to?
What's the role?
I am applying for HW engineer roles in the SEG group.
Aim and negotiate for ICT4. There are standard brackets for these levels that will influence your sign on and subsequent refreshers.
Easy peasy.. find your range and linearly interpolate from levels.fyi
Levels.fyi is helpful, but it doesn’t show how people from Intel are treated by Apple :)
What group you work for in Intel. Your TC looks good to me compared to Intel.
I am in a research team.
Which team at apple you are looking to get in?
Not sure about the exact numbers for your scenario. But It should be quite substantial nevertheless. My TC at Intel Austin is $130k and I am moving to Apple Austin for a TC of $255k. Apple Cupertino would likely be even more.
It sounds sweet! What grade were you at Intel?
Grade 6.
That tc for g8 Intel is pretty damn good. What's the breakdown? I dunno about this one.
149k / 32k / 36k (bonus). My manager has treated me well on cash bonus, and I make extra bonus with patent rewards every year.
Wow, those bonus and stock numbers... Just wow. You're already at low end G9 TC. I'll say this, if you have a good manager that isn't going around for a while, you might be better of staying. It's a tough one because I don't think Intel as a company is in a good place but clearly you're not getting let go anytime soon.
Ur doing fine at intel... apple Tc would be 160 to 180k base. 100 to 160k rsu over 4 years. Another 20k in cash bonus depending on org. So first year Tc around 250..let me know of I'm too far off
I was at intel 11 years and got laid off in April because of a vengeful senior vp. My entire team was cut, including my director. But I digress. Do you know the apple job grade? Here was my numbers and stats: Intel grade: 7 Job: technical marketing program manager Intel base: 115K TC: 150K YOE: 14 Location: Hillsboro Apple base: 195K Rsu:175/4 years Sign on:85K Apple: grade ict4 Job: engineer program manager Location: Cupertino
Thank you for your info, and I am sorry to hear what happened to your group last April. I cannot imagine how hard it must have been in the last year besides COVID-19. But, it is good that your compensation is much better now at Apple, and I hope you are enjoying your job there. I am just guessing that I should get ICT4 at Apple if I can get an offer.
PdxTPM what did your relocation pay look like for the move from Apple ? Lump sum or move expenses covered ? Corp housing ?
