Hi all! I am a recent graduate with a BS in CE and want to go into the hardware/semiconductor industry doing firmware/embedded engineering. I found it difficult to get these positions as a new grad and now have the urge to enter this space. I believe these three companies can get me a foot in the door in this industry. I would like to know if anyone is offering referrals for any entry level positions at these companies. Thank you in advance.
Avoid INTEL like the plague.
This. Intel is a dumpster fire of corruption and incompetence.
Yea, I can't tell you how many times we fucked over MSFT. Too many poor perfomers, too much nepotism. Nobody knows what they are doing so they promote based on visibility. I can't tell you many engineers would not deliver on time because they were "blocked". Yet they wont hand off thd work to someone who is capable of actually doing the work. Oh well, let's just fuck over MSFT some more. They're not trying to run a business at all.
I'll give referrals to Qcom.
Can I pm you?
Yes
If you are a comp science grad, go for pure software comps. Avoid semi conductor companies.
Im a computer engineering grad so I feel as if this is the best fit for my interests
And you think you'll get to do embedded work?! Something you'll learn, "Just because it looks good on paper doesn't mean it's good in reality." Look, if Intel is the best you can do, fine, take the job, work on yourself and your skills on your own time until you are good enough to leave. If you don't, you'll be stuck there wishing you had never taken the job, having developed no real skills to speak of.
FYI, I have heard more than one Intel junior employees (out of college not long ago) complaining “I studied X in the university and expected to do X at Intel, but instead I’m doing Y.” Y is usually some repetitive and trivial work using outdated technologies, or without any technology at all.
That's all of intel. Doing the same stupid task with proprietary methodology for years so you become unhirable elsewhere and you're stuck with shitty intel tc and political managers.
I’ve seen several new grads and people in n their early careers join and regret it pretty bad. You might end up working on trivial and grunt work and the max technology you will be exposed to is Excel and Powerpoint. Hope you’ve heard of them.
@dynasty001
Doesn’t NVIDIA have a hiring freeze in effect?
True
Not any more.. multiple positions opened in the last few weeks
