Hey guys! I have an internship offer from Intel PSG (Programmable Solutions Group) in San Jose and another from Intel CVCG (Core and Visual Computing Group) in San Diego. Anybody has any opinions about both these teams? P.S. Both are RTL/Design Verification roles.
Not that it matters but I've always wanted to try out San Diego
San Diego. You can always move to San Jose.
CVCG
Compensation?
It's only internship
The internship offer includes the annual pay and you can calculate your monthly salary. Assuming you will be offered full time, Full time would have similar difference in pay, better San Diego if not much difference in pay. (San Jose you get geographical bonus)
Cutting edge work in San Diego for sure! San Diego is a much better quality of life and opportunity to expose yourself to take that could open doors.
PSG definitely avoid CVCG at any cost
Any specific reason?
I interned at PSG for a year, DM me if you want to chat
Don’t go to PSG!!
Generally you want to work closer to the mothership earlier in your career to make connections etc. San Jose isn't the mothership (it's only a few minutes drive but it'll feel far from rnb) but it's much closer than San Diego. I worked at psg, don't know anything about cvcg
How did you like the PSG role that you were in?
I was not in tech, so didn't work with engineers. I was also at other groups at Intel, I felt the level of competence was a bit lower than Intel, the people are super nice unlike the rest of Intel tough.
I would have picked PSG. Also maybe in San Jose with more number of teams conversion to full time might be easier if that matters to you
It does. I graduate in December, so, I am looking for a full time position. It's just that the CVCG group is working with cutting edge Tech like IoT, GPUs and stuff which is great..
Cvcg is better team i was in psg previously loved the work and also you are in core silicon valley so you have a better shot for career change in future too...
