Just accepted an Intel‘s offer. I was wondering about wfh model opinion from intel current employees. https://www.businessinsider.com/intel-covid-return-to-office-plan-2021-8 Tc: 90k€ Non US Edit: SDE #hybrid #remotework #wfh
Intel sucks. Most people in the US will be going into a physical office at least 4 days a week. In some sites like Arizona, I know people whose managers have told them they will need to come in all five weekdays.
Depends on the roles
I won’t need to go to the site that often even if they said at least 1 or 2 days per week our manager told us we might need to go once a month if we want to have a face to face meeting/lunch or something like that. Or just go when is really necessary.
My team / manager is chill. Nobody asked to come onsite
Be a useful/dependable/trustworthy employee with a good manager and (at least in SW where no physical access needed) you can be WFH all the time.
Yep, my team is all wfh
Interesting. I know someone who passed on Intel because they boneheadedly insisted on being in person in Folsom even though the candidate lived in SV. I guess they expected him to fly there every day or something. How much do they nickel and dime you if you move to LCOL?
At least 13% pay, at least that is what it was last year. I think Folsom recently got upgraded to a hcol site now so maybe it is less. The whole idea that your worth less depending where you work, when we have been WFH almost two years now is pretty insane if you ask me. I'm thinking you probably just need to stand up for yourself and make your manager fix the issue if they try to pay cut at this point. It's not like most of us are making FANNG like money here unless your some VP or grade 10+.
Kind of stupid of Intel to be nickel and diming if they want to compete for talent with the big boys. But not their first rodeo.
Yeah they are not allowing WFH even though you don't need to be on-site even though don't have space for everyone. What a shit show
No such issue here. Manager is chill and so is team.
Which org? PTD said no remote.
Hybrid
Thanks all for the feedback!
Opted for Hybrid here. All I've been told is that it is not full 5 days required in office. No other info. No idea what this means. I would love to stay WFH. It was such a huge slap in the face when upper management decided to only send out 2 official options (hybrid in office and full time in office) I am seriously considering updating my resume and looking for other employment options.
Yes. Intel in AZ hasn't even communicated when will it start the hybrid. I work in the software team though so we have the flexibility to choose hybrid vs everyday office.

I saw a Googler ( Male ) hit a lady multiple times in the cafe, should I report?
Two models. (In the USA) Full (almost) office. (Minimum 4 out of 5 days at office). Hybrid. (Lesser days at work than the full office model) Based on your team’s needs and your rapport with your manager.
Slightly incorrect. The full remote option is also available for roles that don’t require you to be present onsite and iff management approves it (implies they know you and trust you).
Full remote is being given if management sees the employee as critical talent and want to prevent them from leaving. They want to leave it as last resort and keep the % low.
