Intel: base : 100k sign on : 35k RSU : 15k/4yrs Role: firmware Qualcomm: base: 106k sign on: 30k Relo: 10k RSU: 22.5k/3yrs role: embedded sw ~2 YOE what are the pros and cons? Any help is much appreciated.
What kind of role?
Have included in the post. Firmware.
Qcom in SJ ... better networking opportunities and more options to move
Intel has sabbatical
Qualcomm San Jose. Good learning experience considering that you are pretty new, interesting projects, and better networking oppty in bay area. I think pay is also better compared to Intel. Work life balance in Qualcomm might be a bit bad compared to Intel, but not too bad to worry as such..
Head to San Jose ..
This is one of those times where i would recommend joining Qcom over Intel
Any specific reason behind that? Apart from the location?
Location is the key actually wrt to potential future employers. Qcom is in a growth mode now cuz of 5g craze. Youll learn a lot and your RSUs cud go up in value. Not saying intel is bad. I would just pick the location in thos case. Both are HW companies and theres nothing thay really sets them apart.
Qualcomm TC is no better in San Jose as compared to SD then...I would have expect it to be 10k more for Bay area allowance...Yes but if you can sacrifice that Location would be helpful in future
Here by TC I mean the base...RSUs/Bonus still are fine
Yeah. I tried to negotiate with the HR, she straight out said there’s no room to increase the base
Lol I read the Intel post than this. This is a no brainier it's Intel . Qcom tc is way too low. If you get to 120 then take it else not worth it.
More mobility and exit opps in San Jose. Think about what your next role would be and where you want to progress your career, even if you're just a TC chaser. Select based on the answer to that question.
Not a TC chaser. Just want good opportunities and good work
Right so ignore that part and answer the rest for yourself. Position yourself for your career not for the specific role you're taking.
