better than layoff
How is this legal? I can understand bonuses being cut but base salary is clearly defined in your contract. Reducing base pay is a breach of contract
Pat G. did the same thing at VMware back in 2020. He cut everyone's bonus by 20% and a pay freeze. It really hurt morale specially since VMware pay is already so low. EDIT: I should mention that I thought Pat was a good CEO. The CEO plays a big part in defining the company culture and VMware has a great culture.
Well I didn't know that he did similar thing at VMware. What was the outcome? Did people get their salary adjusted after the business recovered or he used it as a way to get rid of unmotivated employees?
Lots of people left voluntarily once the tech job market recovered in 2021. Also in 2021 VMware gave an increased bonus to make up for the previous bonus cut and started giving pay raises again. It didn't help with the morale.
If they don't nail their next two releases they can realistically go bankrupt.
Did the c-suite also take paycuts?
That was sad to read.. very stupid that they’d hurt their employees before reducing the dividend
How do you all feel?
Pretty good... Accepted a new job in late December that I'll be starting next month. Finishing burning vacation in the meantime
Which group?
Same coming for other companies maybe 🤡
Intel has had a rough few quarters. On top of the economy difficulties it has had to deal with Apple switching to in-house and tough competition from AMD. I think it's highly unlikely that other companies will do this.
Wonderful
