If you’re in tech job family at Amazon but not TPM / PM-T / SDE then you are shit tier replaceable scum and you will be overworked
What's cloud support engineer? Does it involve coding or not?
An engineer who supports the clouds in the sky but using a gaint fan to move the clouds left or right.
Amazon’s Cloud role would involve a lot of Linux stuff related to networking g. Not sure if that meets the coding requirements for SWE. With a lower offer than your current TC, I would suggest to stay at Intel. Portland saves you money when it comes to Sales Tax too 😇
Amazon offer is also at Portland location
Stay at Intel. LC more and switch to better SWE job.
Cloud support engineer is a shit role
Support engineer is crappy role where you're the middleman between clients and SWEs. You will communicate with clients, and will direct most issues to correct eng team and debug issues as well. Totally not worth the change, and it'll be tough to switch back from support eng to swe.
Cloud support == miserable life
Don’t go to amazon as cloud support engineer. You will suffer
Thanks for inputs folks. People who voted for Accept now, switch internally later, is it easier to switch internally at Amazon? The level of interview difficulty is different between internal vs external?
I didn't vote for accept now, switch later internally, but here's my 2 cents. In order to switch ladder internally, it's usually it's just as difficult as an external interview. Do you think the Amazon engineer who is taking your interview would take you more seriously as a SWE from Intel, or as cloud support from Amazon? I would bet a lot of money the former.... It really seems you either really want to leave Intel, or really join amazon. Trust me friend, this isn't the way to do it (for less comp, with less responsibilities, at a less technical role). Be persistent, you'll get better jobs at Amazon and other tech companies.
Thank you so much sir. Very valuable feedback. Really appreciate.

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
Definitely stay SWE don’t go to amazon unless you get SDE. It’s not worth it even if they beat Intels comp.
