Recently got an offer to join Intel, I didn't get chance to ask my recruiter these questions yet(and they aren't the most responsive) so asking here.. 1) What's the latest on Intel's wfh? Is remote work forever allowed for new grad SWEs? 2) Is Intel flexible with campus locations? I have an offer for Hillsboro but want to choose another campus Tc: 122k
What is the TC intel is providing, is it grade 5 ?
Tbh , I'm not sure. I'm a master's grad so it should be 6. It's very much on the lower end. With bonus and stocks, it's 122. 102 is the base
Masters grad + 0 exp = grade 5
Master's grad + 0 yrs exp is Grade 5, Did you negotiate the offer ? regarding wfh it also depends of group, do u knkw your group?
Oh I see, I got this offer a while back and was naive enough not to negotiate. That being said, I'll be joining the cesg group
So the campus question will depend on your team... Generally there is some flexibility, but if the team is 100% in one site already, may not make sense for you to be at another site when you do head into the office. Perma WFH/remote forever tons of chatter about it being an option, but nothing written in stone yet... But sounds like will be partly group call, if 100% remote is allowed by default or not.
It’s group by group but in general permanent remote workers are to be more the exception when they have a special skill of it makes sense for the group or org. This was the pass down to managers.
I don't think permanent wfh would be an option. The best you might get is a hybrid option where you come into work may be 2 days a week and work from home for the rest. In terms of campus locations, it really depends on your team and budget. If your other option is a simliar geo location with similar TC median, then it might be easy to move. However, if you want to move to somewhere like CA where the cost is higher, HR is forced to adjust your pay so they might just not be flexible for it, again depends on where the majority of your team is located, your manager, their team budget etc.
Ah I see, that makes sense. Is the pay adjustment mandatory? I mean I'd rather move to California even with current pay than move to Oregon just cause it would work out cheaper for me given that my extended family stays there
I think they calculate the offer based on median pay, even if you say you wouldn't need that extra pay...every year during your appraisal they will have to pull you as close as possible to the median or as they recently started to call it "compa ratio". So I'd say, the pay adjustment is kinda mandatory from the finance/HR perspective.
Responding after looking at some of the comments. I am MS + 0yoe and G6. Location: Hillsboro.
We still don’t really know the details of the new work models. Very likely full remote is not going to happen except for very few employees, and you’ll need to move to Hillsboro where your team is. Probably will need to go to the office 1-2 days/wk, it’s all TBD. This applies for SWEs.
Any idea by when I'd have to make the move? Currently I'm working remotely
