My partner currently works in Europe and wants to join Intel, Oregon. Is H-1B sponsorship a big gating factor for selection, even if the interview goes well? If anyone has transitioned from EU -> US, or knows someone who did, please comment. My TC: 0 (student, not that it matters) #semiconductor #device #research
From immigration perspective Intel had been really good and supportive company.
That's a relief, thanks!
Does he work for Intel currently? If so, that would be way easier. Otherwise I would say that is realistic if that is high profile position or recruiting manager desperately want this candidate. Worst factor if you are currently outside company is how much time it will take until he will be able to start job.
He doesn't work for Intel right now, so yes, what you said makes sense. I was wondering if people strategically apply closer to the H-1B or something (but I can be totally wrong about this).
I wouldn't think of application timing as any benefit. There are other visa types applying at your situation which may be easier to obtain. I would setup informal call with recruiting manager instead of applying right away.
For technical roles, it is not a problem. Intel job roles usually have a line at the bottom if that particular role is not eligible for sponsorship.
Ah! I'm sure this one is eligible for sponsorship, but as another person also mentioned, my partner can't join immediately and that may not be a favorable condition if they need someone to join right now.
