Interesting social experiment about social media used these days(2023)
I went to my alma mater and pretended to be a college student again (I’m 29 and pretty skinny so I easily look 22)… when trying to make friends, the number one method to connect is: “Do you have snapchat?”, “Add me on snap chat”. There were some who asked for instagram instead. Maybe one or two asked for phone number. The ones on instagram have very little content on it. Like 3 or 4 posts(pictures/videos). Some have none(just a profile picture) Not a single soul asked for Facebook. No one asked for Whatsapp or Telegram End of results. What do you use to stay in contact with someone you meet?
I like Instagram bc it allows me to remember who I’m talking to
Curious: what if that person has no posts/pictures except for the profile picture? Would that be enough for you to remember who you’re talking to?

I use phone but I’m an old person. I’ll add people later depending on whether I give apps access to my contacts (which I mostly stopped doing). I think I’ll use another app if I know they’re travellling and using a temp number
