Is what I've been told correct?: Google: interns have to do 2 conversion interviews at end of summer, hear back 4-6 weeks after internship ends, no special full time offer Facebook: no conversion interviews, hear back by end of internship, increased stock and huge signing bonus ??
Wow...
Why is google so picky?
Idk, I feel like they're overvaluing themselves at this point
Yeah, initial interview is already pretty difficult. Don't see the value in two more. Intern performance should be the only criteria.
If you intern twice at Google and the feedback is good you get to skip the interviews.
Where did you hear this?
I interned twice at Google and have other friends who did so too. I had to do two interviews at the end, because one of the internships was at X, so the hiring committee did not have access to the feedback, so I guess it didn't count. But I definitely know people that skipped the interviews after the second internship. I even thought that the feedback didn't have to be all that amazing for this to happen, but this is slightly speculative of me.
Google intership conversion interviews can be optional if you get very good feedback.
You still don't get a special full time offer and have to wait 1-2 months after internship though
What is special fulltime offer?
There’s a reason why I left google... everyone thinks special when you’re just one in tens of thousands, killing culture completely; move as slow as possible. It’s ok to be one in ten thousand. Just recognize you’re not special for being in a company.
Yeah but Facebook just simply sucks. Sure, great money. Good food I guess? Enjoyed my free laundry. But you can’t lie to my face and say that even a single one of those people actually wants to be working on Facebook or believes they’re doing something meaningful. Lol It’s soul crushing. I work at Google now, and I’ve met far more humble people than at Facebook.
Can confirm. Conversion $$$ is the only reason I' interning at FB.

Yes
Went through both processes. You’re assumptions are correct.
How did you go through both processes?
