How easy or difficult is it to move internally from US to Canada in Oracle? Also, I am in OCI but OCI doesn’t seem to have any teams in Canada, so is it possible to transfer to any other org like Netsuite? Whats the process like? Do I need to just convince the HM or go through the entire interview loop? I am on H1B btw, but planning a move since I need points for express entry, so Oracle will have to work on my Canada work permit. Would they let me keep the initial RSU grants and adjust just the base, or adjust both? TC: $210k USD, Austin, 6 YOE IC3 #workvisa #h1b #pr #canada #internal #transfer #austin
following.. in a similar boat not sure if this helps: I have a teammate who's working from canada, but temporarily, until his visa issue is resolved. has been > 6 months. as per him, they strongly prefer US location They have kept him on US payroll as a result
Yeah I think its possible to move to Canada for a temporary assignment if there are visa issues. I am on H1B currently, I just want to move to Canada permanently which is not possible unless I find a new team in Canada who agrees to hire me and do my paper work. Any idea about this scenario?
i am already a PR.. gonna try it soon
Your best bet is to interview for Canada office of Amazon or Microsoft. Or get into FAANG US and move later.
Thanks for responding. Sure, I would love that any day. But would they even entertain me considering I don’t have a Canadian work permit? Isn’t internal transfer in the same company much more easier than moving externally to Canada? If I get into FAANG US, I would have to wait for at least 1 year before I can change teams, right?
FAANG gives you a guaranteed way of relocating after an year. Getting a canadian job without PR is hard but I know quite a few folks who interviewed with Amazon and got hired. But I only know of Amazon and Microsoft who do that. Doesn't matter to them if they file your visa for US or Canada - similar cost to them.
