Hey Blind community, this is my first post here. I am an Indian who joined Google around 6-7 months back. I love my team and work here. I have always had a dream of living in the States from childhood (I have some family members who live there and cant stop talking about the tech industry there). I really want to move to the States as early as possible. I know in theory, they say you can move once you are in a team for around. 1 year, is it so in practise? Will I be able to move as an L3 there even if I get a CME this cycle (its my first cycle). Its just that it doesn’t make sense to me that anyone would be willing to fund the transfer of a low experienced engineer with only one cycle. Are anyone of you familiar with peeps who moved to the States from India within 1 year. If yes, how difficult it is. Also, could anyone comment on whether its a bad career decision to shift so quickly if I am happy with the work? I dont care much about the TC at this stage in my life. Thank you very much :)
Yes, it is possible, even at L3 CME. US teams always have open headcount. A ramped up L3 is still better than a new grad hire. A few in my team moved immediately after 1 year, even though they were still L3
Woahh!! Thank you for that info :)

You are thinking very short term. People go for relocations generally after promotion. You won't want to reset your L3 progress and start from scratch in the new team. But to answer your question, yes it's possible (but not super easy). I know a friend who moved to Europe like this
Is there any logical explanation behind that? All people that I have talked to say that it is better compensation wise. I feel what Google pays for an L3 is very satisfactory and I dont have much aims to be crazy rich. I read in “Psychology of Money” that the definition for “enough” is very different for different people.
It's fine if you are okay with your decision, for sure. My advice was on the basis of career growth and what most people choose to decide. Also, if you plan to move asap, you can start talking to teams beforehand, so you can officially start the process after 1 year, because US visa process may take up few months
