What happens when most of your team is Indian?
We closed all of our offices in Canada and now everyone is working remotely. International transfers are possible. USA to Canada is definitely possible. Ease of approval will come down to your visa situation. If you’re having problems with your US visa then relocating to Canada or Dublin is an option. You want to relocate to Canada for personal reasons and already have the right to work in Canada and are in good standing with your team? Should be an easy conversation with your manager and your salary will get adjusted from US to Canadian market rate and you’ll be responsible for paying all relocation costs. Want to relocate to Canada for personal reasons and don’t have the right to work there? Odds are very good that we won’t sponsor your visa. There’s a job opening based in another country and you’re interested in that job and already an employee? Apply for it and get it and the company will pay for relocation and sponsor your visa if possible.
Wow great info, thanks! Closed all offices in Canada! Does it mean Yahoo wrapping up its operations or not looking to grow in that market?
You’re welcome. We are a remote first company now and are minimizing our real estate footprint. Odds are we will have a Wework type solution in at least one of the major cities in Canada. Overall, Canada will still be a place we have employees working remotely from.
