Hi, my wife is doing her masters in seattle in data science and machine learning and looking for internships now. I work at amazon as SDE so dont know much about how data science interviews go? Has anyone given interviews for data science preferably at Amazon, Microsoft(basically any Seattle based comapies?) Any tips/information will be useful. #internship #datascience #machinelearning #seattle
Data science interviews vary significantly by company, unlike an sde interview, where almost every company has equal weightage on coding and system design. For data scientist, expect a sql coding round which is the first step. Second round can either be a ML algorithm or ML system design round. Also expect a few stats and probability questions. You can also expect a R/Python coding round. I have also noticed one round dedicated to past projects/resumes for some companies. Outside of tech, it is pretty common to see a presentation round to judge your communication skills. While most tech companies do not have a separate presentation round, they judge you on your communication skills (clear and concise communication of ideas, asking good and well structured questions etc) during other interviews. Good luck.
