Asking for a friend who will start an internship this summer in Apple Raleigh office. What is the most convenient housing option? I assume that he needs to rent a private furnished room via Airbnb? Any other options? Unfortunately Apple doesn’t provide housing there. If the room is not within biking distance from office, what is the best way to commute? Is there a shuttle? Is there city bus? Or he has to rent a car? Is there any forum that can help him connect with other interns so that they may share housing and carpool there? In general, where is a good and safe area to stay? Is biking safe? Thanks a lot!

I haven’t been back to Raleigh for 7 years, but biking except in and around NCSU campus is not really safe and summers are very hot and humid (not as bad as Florida). If you are not used to it biking can be tough. I don’t now where is the Apple Office, but one option for housing would be to sublease from students that are away in summer. There are usually a lot sublease options in summer (and they come furnished). City runs buses and there are regional transit buses but I don’t know if they serve the apple office area. Generally, the life in Raleigh isn’t impossible without car but would be a bit boring particularly if you are away from lively and walkable parts of the city.
