I’m currently working in Utah as a Lead Software Developer TC $110k (small marketing agency) I received a message on LinkedIn from a recruiter from Amazon to a position in Austin for SDE. I have about 10yrs of experience and I’m concerned what’s the TC in Austin and how’s the cost of living compared to Salt Lake. All my career I have worked as a Dev, not System Designer, so I’m not sure how I will perform in the interview. Am I right to assume it’s like 40% LP / 30% coding / 30% SD? Thanks!
More like 50% of the 14 LP
Cost of living not sure about Utah, but TX no state tax and can find good 2BR apartments near (walkable) Amazon office for 1500s. Austin a great town if you let it be, it can get hot in summer, really hot.
Man I really wish to move to Austin from Boston...houses are affordable and great architecture, crowd is vibrant and young, great southern hospitality, a whole bunch of tech jobs, no state taxes.. Summers are real hot and believe me when I say I hate heat...but if u could get past the 3 months, the rest 9 are great. Also check out this brewery called Oasis, it has quite a spectacular view
What is holding you to move in there?

I’d assume the TC is at least double what you’re making now
Even SDE1?
Maybe not SDE1. Depends. But why would you get SDE1 with 10 YOE holy downlevel I got SDE1 and the offer was like $167k total comp in Seattle
