Few years out of college; planning on quitting PM job to take a 6-9 month gap to live abroad. Trying to plan ahead reentry to job market. Best course of action would be: 1) Interview now and secure offer (potentially 9-12 months out)? 2) Interview while abroad or once I return (with no current job)? Anyone know if most companies would extend an offer valid for 6-12mo? I have heard of a select few doing this i.e G, FB
No point interviewing unless you are truly exceptional. But with the Covid situation you could get a job now and start remote without anyone knowing as long as your overseas stay is under 6 months. After that it has tax implications and borders on fraud.

I am starting to think Chinese interviewers currently fail non-Chinese candidates on purpose.

Interview now but good luck finding a company that will hold an offer for that long.
Thanks for your comment. Yeah, makes me wonder if there’s really a point to interviewing now then
