Interview from Palo Alto networks

What to expect from software engineer interview at Palo Alto networks ?

Palo Alto Networks h1k33 Sep 30, 2020

Which team? Process varies from team 2 team.

Cisco AvPh76 OP Sep 30, 2020

Cloud controller SD-WAN

Apple idkwthru Oct 1, 2020

Expect trivia questions and be ready for random unexplained rejection. Source: friend who went through the process They are no better than your current company so why move?

Cisco AvPh76 OP Oct 1, 2020

Things are tough at Cisco currently. Lay offs coming soon is what the word across the company. Hence majority seem to be looking for roles outside Cisco. Any elaboration on trivia questions ? Leetcode ? System design ?

What’s better than his current company? Wait don’t tell me, you’re going to start throwing ‘tiers’ at me

Depends on team, there will be 1-2 knowledge based questions, 1-2 design questions at least one of them will based on what you have on the resume and the other a synthetic one. Finally at least one LeetCode style stuff. Ignore idkwthru, his experience is probably sour because he got rejected, the Cloud teams are great, very good orgs in general. There'll always be a rotten Apple (pun intended) but if you are an engineer you will never see them. The company is hiring a lot too so I guess things are trending the right way. I spent 10+ years at Cisco during the hey days, when they were what FAANG is today - Trust me this place is smaller and more fun than Cisco.

With your vitriol, you obviously got rejected 😉 LMAO. Don't know if you know but there's more to software than LeetCode hard or some bullshit synthetic design problem that most people memorize without even knowing what they are talking about. I am saying that is you but you have to have a moment of introspection and understand why you got rejected. As for your question, considering my TC, no f...ing way would I move. About 10% less comp compared to FAANG (actually just FNG because AA we regularly beat) but 50% less stress. Besides I wouldn't have to deal with a bunch of clowns who think 50 LeetCode problems is the ultimate career achievement.

Flagging you again, read OP’s question he’s asking about what to expect for interviews at PAN. Your comments are irrelevant on top of being baseless and unnecessary insults.

I don’t know that team, but what’s your experience in OP? Could be wrong, but cloud controller doesn’t sound like C/C++, but if you are interviewing for a role that requires that, expect some questions around concurrency.

I am also planning for the interview for cloud security. Can anyone here from panw please let me know what to prepare for the interview.
