Interview process for Product Designer at Gusto

I only got half way through the process. The process is usually phone screening with recruiter then recruiter will show your portfolio with hiring manager and if they like you they will schedule a 1hr portfolio review with the hiring manager on Zoom. If you manage to pass the portfolio review, then they will invite you to a half day onsite where you’ll do a portfolio review and do 1:1 the team. I’m not sure if they will ask you do to a white board challenge. I didn’t get a chance to do a onsite. Then after that you’ll hear back if they will give you a offer or not. One of the things I will say is that Gusto was my first choice and they says that they are hiring as fast as they can but I first spoke to them around June. I wasn’t ready so I turned it down. But around beginning of October I reached backed out to the recruiter wanting to interview with them. Sent in my portfolio and she mention she was going to get back to me right away. A MONTH passes and I heard nothing. Until I finally reached backed out to find out that yes a hiring manager did want to do a portfolio review with me. Went through with it but sadly they didn’t want to continue the interviewing with me. I guess I wasn’t a match for the team. So I went on to interview with different companies. A week or 2 passes then the recruiter reached back out as another hiring manager was interested in talking to me. However I would need to go through the process again. At that time, I already had a offer in hand from another company and wasn’t willing to turn it down for a unsure opportunity with Gusto. Overall, I wish it worked out for me as Gusto was my number 1 choice but they aren’t rushing to reach headcount. If you are gonna go through the interview, good luck! I’ve used the product before and it’s pretty great. I heard they got good culture and people.
