First round interview has been scheduled with 3 interviewers for 1 hr total, for a software engineer role in Fort Worth, Texas. Will this be like a panel interview or 3 separate interviews 20 min each? Most importantly, what questions will they ask?
OP, why do you want to move to LM from JPMC?
Was wondering this as well. Lately I've been looking into JPMC as a way out of defense
I’ve been in Banking for 3 years now and been trying to get out. For multiple reasons. Few of which are: - regulation/compliance you are subject to like stocks and bonds. So, any stock or bond you want to buy or sell you need to get approval and you can’t sell within 30 days of buying. You also have to use a broker that is within the list of companies they give you. - the organization is pretty bad. Never got proper raise or bonus even tho I’ve been top performer before (raise or 1%) and bankers take all the bonus. No real employee benefits besides renting cars or buying office supplies. - recently changed into SWE from Data scientist team and the team doesn’t have enough work to go around so I’m not learning anything nor getting paid fairly. - (on the personal preference side) I would also like to work on solid product not just web pages. I feel like banking doesn’t really have any solid product you can see through to production. - but overall definitely unhappy with the organization and how unfairly they compensate their employees. Also, having been in the military for 4 years in a squadron. It would be nice to be working back with aircrafts.

For individual contributor roles, it is impossible to say, as interview process is fully at the discretion of the hiring manager. Management positions are more standardized. Based on your description, my best guess is a panel of 3 people, likely the hiring manager + 2 people who would ultimately be more senior peers on your team. I would expect they will ask you to introduce yourself, ask a few questions about your background/experience/skills, and possibly a few behavioral type questions in there. I would not anticipate they will ask specific technical questions.
Yeah this will be for IC role. But this is still very helpful thank you. So, I’m assuming it’s mostly to see your compatibility with the team? Is there another set of interviews after this?
Pretty much - skills match, make sure you are going to fit in well with the team, make sure you are a fit for the role. If you are getting interviewed by a panel of three as opposed to like an initial phone screen, it is probably the final interview. Again, the hiring manager has discretion over the process, so your mileage may vary. If there was a follow-on, I would guess that would mean you impressed them and they think you are good to hire but need a technical lead to further assess the skills match.
