I had a loop last week for SDE 2 and the interviews went well and I was able to solve all the coding questions and also design questions but I received an email saying I did not make it. Not sure why they did not hire me. I even emailed HR the same question but she said it's against the policy and mentioned that there is a 18 month cooling period before being considered for the same position sde2. My questions What has more weightage than solving coding questions in Amazon interview ? Does it mean that I can apply for SDE 3 or any other role like SDM without having to wait for 18 months?#engineering #software #swe
Ok.. ty
18 months means you didn’t do that well. The cooling off period can be from 6 months to 2 years depending on long how the panel thinks it’ll take you to improve. 1 year is pretty standard. You can apply for non-SDE roles without waiting for the full period. If you didn’t do well on LPs your chances are slim for SDM, but maybe you didn’t do as well on coding as you thought.
If you passed the coding and didn’t get hired, that probably means that there was a red flag in your LP answers for the loop. SDE3 and SDM positions index higher on the LP’s and soft skills so I don’t think applying for an SDM role would be a realistic option.
