Interviewing at booking.com

Ibatman Apr 1, 2019I recently appeared for android developer phone interview. There were 2 problems, 1 was on DS and algorithms (Leetcode Easy/Medium) and another was android specific. Pm me for more details.
Had an interview with them a half of year ago. There were three interviews in a row. The first one was about problem solving. A few warmup questions about time complexity basic data structures and a very simple problem about BFS. The second was system design, I was asked to design a simple app with two screens. The third one was some kind of a behavioral interview mixed with product questions, like how would I improve booking app and estimate an impact. I was rejected mostly because of system design, they named my solution as over-engineered, also product interview passed not very well, the guy that was interviewing me, was very strange and it seemed he didn’t like to be there.
Thank you for elaborated reply! Too bad some interviewers are lowering the chances of getting the offer by being not present during interview. Can you tell what is the phone interview like?
I had two phone interviews with different guys. Nothing special just a few simple problem and a task where I had to find some mistakes and bugs in a piece of shitty code.
