I'm currently at 8 YOE, will I be able to interview for the Staff level at 10 YOE? I'm trying to plan my next couple of years, things I should focus on at work and personal skills to be able to clear Staff level interviews a couple of years from now. If Staff isn't possible at 10 YOE, I'll just stay at Bloomberg longer like until 12 YOE. I kinda don't want to just get the Senior level again at another company and struggle with the promotion politics. 290k
YOE is just a number. Seriously though, you're probably looking at Staff in smaller companies. FAANG/big tech rarely up levels to staff for external hires, especially if the experience is marginal.

I’m Staff level, or what other companies call Principal, with 10 years of experience. I think getting that role at the 8 year mark is doable if you are a result-driven cross-team successful engineer, otherwise, it will be difficult to survive that job.
L65 at Microsoft isn't quite staff TBH (thanks to title/level inflation driven by lagging comp), most L66 and 67 would probably map to staff.
