Interviewing with LinkedIn with around 1.8 yoe. Is it possible to push for senior, aka E4/L4 everywhere else? Recruiter said it’s impossible to slot me at senior level or even go for that. But I’m interviewing literally everywhere else for L4. Advice?
How did you get the call ?
Applied online
1.8 YOE as senior? Lol
Senior is at LinkedIn is L4 at G and F
Some e5 in fb has 3 lol 😀
LinkedIn wants to hire "strong" seniors for external hires. In other words, close to E5. The only people who get to senior in 1.5 years are those who started out of college and did a great job at work. I'd say it is also similar for Facebook, you wont see 2 YOE external hire for E5 but maybe for E4. It is unfortunate that senior engs spans across E4 and E5 but this is what happens. Try to negotiate a bit more with recruiter.
Thank you for the insight. This is helpful. So would you say a strong E4 will only get brought on as an entry level software engineer? That’s a bit unfortunate. Obviously in terms of career growth and TC.
Definitely will negotiate harder once I have other E4 offers and ace the on-site.
No sorry you need at least 1.9 yoe. Try again next time
Lol 😂 sure. Thanks recruiter
Go for LinkedIn senior if you're meeting expectations. I don't see any difference between a senior SWE and SWE. You fail senior SWE interview, then hey you're a strong hire for SWE. You will get the job. So go ahead with Senior by any means.
Recruiter isn’t willing to slot me at the interview for senior though
If I get a stronger offer else where I may decline :)
Hi, How was your first round? Mine is scheduled on coming monday! Can I dm you for experience and other details
Yeah feel free to dm
OP did u get an offer?
Op here got an offer
Yo OP, can u share deets pls?
Hi Op, can I DM you for interview details and experience ?
Tell them you’re interviewing for l4 elsewhere. The fact you’re interviewing in other companies doesn’t guarantee you’ll get there(and recruiter knows it for sure), so interview in LI and see what they offer.
Definitely! If I have other L4 offers then that’s leverage to negotiate right
Also do you think LI is the best company for an early career growth?
